What price am I allowed to state?

The price field is mandatory, and it must be the full end price you'll actually sell for — in euros, including all taxes and charges.

What doesn't count as a price

These aren't allowed in the price field:

  • “o.n.o.”, “make an offer”, “price on request” or “from”;
  • leasing, instalment or monthly amounts;
  • the price of just one part of a bundled offer;
  • placeholder amounts such as €1 or €999,999.

Costs that necessarily arise — shipping, for example — need to be stated clearly and in full in the description.

Your title, description and photos have to match the price field

If the title, description or a photo states a different price than the price field, the price field is what counts. A listing that breaks this can be sent back for revision.

You can't announce a reduction as a private seller

The Aktionspreis function, which is the only way to announce a price reduction, is shops-only. As a private seller you can't advertise a reduction anywhere — including in a photo — with a struck-through price, a percentage like “20% off”, words like “instead of”, “previously”, “RRP”, “list price”, “when new”, or a comparison with other sellers.

If you simply lower your price, buyers see a neutral note that the price was reduced — with no old price and no percentage. See “What does Aktionspreis mean?” for what a shop's Aktionspreis shows instead.

A big price change asks you to confirm

Changing your price by 40% or more asks you to confirm it first — that's there to catch typos.

The full rules are in the Listing Rules.
