The street name, postal code and city you enter are shown publicly on your listing. The map, though, never shows the exact point — only an approximate area about a kilometre across.
We need the street name; the house number is up to you. What you enter appears publicly in your listing – but on the map we mark only an approximate area, never the exact spot.
So the house number is up to you: leave it out if you'd rather not show it publicly. The street name, postal code and city are needed for a valid listing.
The position on the map is rounded to a fixed grid of roughly one kilometre, the same for every visitor. That also means it can't be narrowed down by reloading the page — the result is the same approximate square every time. You see the exact position when you edit your own listing, and so does our team when it reviews a listing — visitors never do.
A shop's address and its exact position on the map are public on purpose, because a business is legally required to disclose its address (§ 5 ECG). That applies to shops only, not private sellers.
